First Austrian wins Motorcycle Class at 2018 Dakar Rally

Matthias Walkner of Austria earns KTM their 17th win in a row at this year’s Dakar Rally. As of Saturday January 20, Matthias has become the first native Austrian motorcycle entrant to taste victory in the class. Check out the bike he rode and how he made it possible here:


For anyone following the latest Dakar 2018 motorcycle news, Antoine Meo of France leads after the 8th stage, followed by USA’s Ricky Brabec in 2nd and Australlia’s Toby Price in 3rd. With 585km covered so far, the Factory Redbull KTM team of Meo and Topy Price run up front with Monster Energy Honda’s Brabec and Kevin Benavides mixing it up 2nd and 4th. Tight competition in this year’s Dakar Rally will make for an exciting finish with RedBull KTM’s Antoine Meo leading the bikes into Stage 9.

Off-Road Ontario now has a YouTube Channel! We know you love riding videos. Please subscribe to the channel, like the videos, and share them. If you have any footage, long or short, GoPro or cell phone, that you would be willing to share, please message Delaney Brogan on Facebook. We are very excited to add this to our media suite.

The Off-Road Spode chats with an ex-CMRC Women’s National champion, Kate McKerroll, about our new Youtube channel at the 2018 International Bike Show. Videos, interviews, and race re-caps are some of the things our new channel will feature. Stay tuned throughout the race season for some cool content, you might even see yourself!
